Choose a beach day or a lake walk

Lake Laura gives a summer group two different ways to spend the day. Bryce Resort describes a grassy beach for swimming and relaxing, with boat rentals when the lake is operating. The lake also has a trail that goes around the water. If the group wants a quieter outing, the walk can be the whole plan; if children want to swim, save the trail for another day or a shorter stretch.

The resort describes the full trail as an easy-to-moderate walk of roughly an hour and a half to two hours. It says the trail is open year-round but is not wheelchair accessible. Check trail conditions before setting out, especially after wet weather.

A few rules make packing easier

The beach has no lifeguard, and Bryce Resort says visitors under 16 need a parent or guardian. Pets are not permitted at the beach, even though Raccoon Chalet welcomes up to two dogs. The resort also prohibits alcohol and grills in the beach area. Those details matter when deciding who is coming and what to bring.

For a water day, pack the ordinary things you'll want close by: towels, sun protection, water and dry clothes for the ride back. Check the resort's lake page for current admission, rentals and operating dates rather than relying on an old price in a travel article.

Let the evening stay open

Back at the chalet, the deck is a good place to slow down before dinner. There is room for a group meal outdoors, plus the saltwater hot tub, games and a theater room if the weather turns. A lake day does not need a packed second act.
